Cob House Village
The usual construction method
of stitching strings of house
to create a village of nestled homes
(sometimes bright and skewed
with red-pitched roofs and gaily painted,
other times pale and square
flat-topped by corrugated iron)
fell by the wayside.
This time rustic cob houses
low-slung and earth-toned
emerged from the fabric,
a picture of pastoral ease
peaceful on a hillside.
I love your poetry and your quilt.

Wow – I thought you were only going to do one house block a weekend…and here you’ve presented us with a complete village quilt plus a poem.
The finished quilt and poem are excellently executed!

Thank you kindly. The poem and quilt are from the archive, both made and written a couple of years ago. Meanwhile, I am struggling a bit with the house a weekend self-challenge

Another beautiful poem. Last two lines are perfect. Where is the quilt-illustrated anthology of poetry? Please?

You are so encouraging Jacqui. Thank you. Am editing the quilt collection poems as I go, so when I get to the end of the batch I might make a book of them. If I do, I will dedicate it to you!

Your design process becomes even more magical when it’s described in a poem… And the finished quilt is beautiful too!
