Twenty-One Love Poems
for Emma I made a quilt to mark your coming of age. I sewed bold bands of blocks in the brightest of colours to match your happy dance through childhood and friendship, a choreographed strip for each year.

What. a clever idea for a quilt. A wonderful way to celebrate her coming of age – I’m sure it will be a cherished piece for years to come!

A successful ‘happy dance’ reflected in poetry and stitchery. The orange/teal colors are perfect for this ‘backstory’.
Was this meant to be a bed quilt or wall hanging? Either way, I’m sure Emma is taking good care of it!

Thanks for “reading” the quilt so accurately. It’s 6O inches square, so is big enough to nap underneath it, but she did hang it up. It was made about 12 years ago (gulp) and has probably faded by now. (Emma is our oldest daughter’s friend.)

Hmmm, think of it more as a type of patina…
Sweet story for sure.
